This show served as both a vacation for Kate and I and a gig. We headed down to the Bay on Wednesday and stayed with our friends Mitch and Christine, rather than with the band. We had lots of fun exploring their part of San Francisco, which entails The Mission, parts of The Tenderloin, and Bernal Heights.
The show was kind of a disorganized mess- much less professional than Lollapalooza and much less homey than the Rocky Mountain Folks festival. We had to argue with the Will Call people for almost two hours to get them to admit that there was indeed a Blind Pilot guest list and that they had simply lost it. Winning this round with the aid of management on the phone from Charlottesville VA, Kate got her wrist band in time for us to watch Built To Spill, but not in time to eat lunch. After our show, we left to visit some other Bay Area friends and we gave them our wrist bands. I hope they used them to see Incubus, Pearl Jam, and Dave Mathews without paying the $90 day pass price. Take that, crappy festival, but thanks for the Jameson.
